Andréa Desbiens

Andréa is a bilingual Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, currently pursuing a Master of Health Sciences in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Ottawa. With a solid foundation from a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and a minor in Psychology, Andréa has developed a diverse clinical background through placements in acute care, community health, and specialized camps. Her experience ranges from evaluating swallowing and cognitive-linguistic skills in adults to implementing intervention sessions for motor speech, language, and social communication in children.

A dedicated researcher and collaborator, Andréa has served as a research assistant at the Language and Literacy Laboratory since 2023, contributing to projects on child language acquisition in bilingual contexts and the validation of screening tools. Her commitment to the field is further demonstrated through extensive volunteer work and positions at the Société franco-ontarienne de l'autisme and CHEO, where she collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to support children with diverse developmental needs. Known for her critical thinking, attention to detail, and creative approach, Andréa is passionate about enhancing the well-being and communication abilities of her clients.
